McClaren MP4-12C

One thing I hate about car reviews in America is all the figures involved. I want to know the basics such as 0-60, top speed, size of engine and maybe some power to weight ratio if it is really important but you cannot do this with the MP4-12C from McClaren. This is a car of science not of passion like the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s. This car is named after a fax machine by the sounds of things, the creators are such scientific thinkers they could not even create a passionate cool name like the Aventador, Lightning Bolt, just something that gives us a little passion or excitement when you hear the name. McClaren who have won one in every three formula 1 races they entered and as they are the 2nd oldest team next to Ferrari and have been competition in F1 since 63, that is an impressive record and the attention to detail is all over this car. They released performance figures with different numbers and even new categories, this is a serious piece of machinery.... the McClaren is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8 litre V8 producing 592 horses. The car revs up to 7000rpm and at 3000 revs the car produces 443 lbs of ft torque which helps rocket you through the speedo and on to 205mph. Going 0-62 in 3.3 seconds but could be .2 seconds less if you buy the optimum tire package, and 0-124 in just 9.1 seconds which again could be 8.9 if you got the optimum tire package. The MP4-12C can do a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds and reaches a speed of 134mph when crossing the line, then the car can stop from 62-0 in only 100ft. The car only weights 2866 lbs for a high-power to weight ratio and for this technical marvel that travels on the highway at 20mpg, you can own one for a cool, calm and calculated $231,400. This car is too focused on figures for me; the car is made so much for just speed and impressive figures that the car is missing something. Even the design was solely decided on the most streamline shape possible after spending days in the wind-tunnels. A great piece of machinery but for me it misses the whole point of owning a car, especially a super car.
